Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a growing team in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a construction and project-based accounting environment, with responsibility spanning billing, cost tracking, reconciliations, and close activities. The role will support long-duration projects from material procurement through installation and service delivery while helping maintain accurate financial visibility across active work.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting activities tied to construction and project-based work, including tracking costs across extended project timelines and milestone-driven billing schedules.
- Prepare and issue customer invoices, monitor billing accuracy, and support collections visibility by identifying booked revenue and expected incoming funds.
- Lead key month-end close tasks by posting journal entries, reviewing the general ledger, and helping maintain an efficient close cycle.
- Complete bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations to ensure balances are accurate and fully supported.
- Assist with accounts payable processes and verify that vendor-related transactions are recorded correctly and on time.
- Produce bi-weekly liquidity reporting to provide clear insight into cash position and short-term funding expectations.
- Support accounting operations related to the flow of raw materials through installation and final service delivery, ensuring financial records align with project activity.
- Use Construction accounting software to manage core accounting functions and contribute to process improvement as the office expands utilization of the system. Requirements
- Hands-on proficiency with any Sage ERP version.
- Strong skills in account reconciliation and bank reconciliations with careful attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel capability, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess cash activity, billed amounts, and expected receipts.
