Accounts Payable Bookkeeper Location:
McAllen, TX McAllen Based construction company is seeking a highly experienced, highly organized and tech-savvy bookkeeper (Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable) to support our Accounting Department. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who is reliable, adaptable, easy to get along with and eager to grow in a fast-paced, professional environment. You will be working directly under the Finance Director. Key Responsibilities Perform administrative and bookkeeping tasks related to construction projects. Enter information into Quickbooks. Pay and track all accounts payable, i.e. subcontractors, vendors, insurance, loans, bills, etc. online, by check, by credit card or by ach payment. Review vendor statements and reconcile monthly. Reconcile bank accounts daily. Ensuring that sales taxes are collected and paid properly to State Comptroller. Have vendors fill out W-9's and sign for checks or send them by mail. Scan, organize, and file digital receipts by job codes. Assist with accounting and finance tasks such as credit applications and progress billing. Audit, maintain, and update reports and spreadsheets. Purchase materials and supplies via phone or online orders. Maintain email, to-do lists, work logs, and provide weekly activity reports. Perform occasional errands (bank deposits, registration renewals, etc.). Required Skills & Software Proficiency Windows 10 & 11: Advanced usage of file manager, i.e. copy, paste & move files Microsoft Office Suite:
Excel, Word, and Outlook. Adobe Acrobat:
Create, edit, and combine PDF files. File Servers:
Experience using iCloud drives, i.e. Dropbox, OneDrive, or similar. Language Skills:
College-level English and Spanish reading, writing, and speaking ability. Ideal Candidate Qualities Reliable, punctual, easy to get along with, & professional — a team player . Positive attitude — open-minded, eager to learn, able to adapt to our work culture, and contribute to a growing company. Be able to get along with everyone — good personality and good chemistry with our team. Absolutely no bad or mean attitudes, patronizing others or treating upper management, coworkers, subcontractors, customers or vendors disrespectfully. Preferred Background 7+ years ' experience in bookkeeping. Expert using Quickbooks. Exposure to construction related environments is a strong plus. Most importantly:
moldable, able to adapt, able to work well with others and able to work under a supervisor and in a chain-of-command structure. Compensation $40,000 - $50,000/year base salary (depending on experience and skills) Quarterly performance bonuses: $500-$3,000 Additional Requirements Final interview includes a written test and computer skills assessment (observed).
