ACCOUNTANT
I, II, orIII GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Accountant position reports to the Executive Director's and the Assistant Vice President for Finance with latitude for technical judgement in accomplishment of most phases of work. This is a new position, but duties and responsibilities may include, but not limited to, the following:ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepare monthly reconciliations: Bank, Cost Center, Financial Aid, Inventory, etc. Fixed Asset management for LSCO, LIT, and LSCPA to record proper entries for asset purchases, disposals, depreciation, and assist with the annual inventory process for the three schools. Assist with the preparation of the Annual Financial Report, Legislative Appropriations Requests, and other reports completed by the accounting office. Assist with running check cycles and vendor outreach. Assist with grant tracking, budget data entry, check voids, USAS batches, and other duties as needed.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Committee assignments and other service activities. Perform other appropriate duties as may be determined by the Executive Director's, AVP for Finance, and/or Vice President for Finance and Operations.GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited four-year college or university preferred. Experience Level of experience will determine level of Accountant position (I, II, or III).KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems. Ability to interpret and apply accounting theory to transactions; to work accurately with numerical detail; and to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data. Knowledge of state regulations and policies pertaining to public funds and government finance. Skills in use of adding, computing, and related office machines. The ability to operate computer systems and use Microsoft programs. Physical Requirement Requires constant sitting, walking and seeing. Requires frequent standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 25 pounds, operating calculator, personal computer, and various office equipment. Requires infrequent stooping, bending, sorting and filing. Security Sensitive This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215.WORKING CONDITIONS
