Senior Accountant 10702
General Overview:
Responsible for accurate and timely accounting of the organization's lease portfolio in accordance with ASC 842, including initial recognition, ongoing measurement, and reporting of lease-related balances.
Responsibilities:
Oversight of recording lease agreements, modifications, and terminations accurately in the accounting system in compliance with ASC 842. Create, monitor, and enhance a robust system of controls, procedures, and documentation for lease accounting. Recommend updates to accounting policies related to leases and ASC 842 compliance. Review lease transactions for compliance with Company policy and accounting standards. Monitor company lease commitments, ensuring alignment with approved contracts and management authorizations. Work with operations and legal teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of the lease population, including identification of embedded leases. Oversight and analysis of lease calculations, including right-of-use (ROU) assets, lease liabilities, discount rates, and amortization schedules. Review balance sheet reconciliations related to lease accounting, including ROU assets and lease liabilities, between subledger and general ledger. Prepare audit schedules related to leases and assist auditors with ASC 842-related inquiries. Prepare and provide recommendations on opportunities to improve lease accounting processes, controls, and policies. Accountable for the monthly lease accounting close process, including reconciliations, reporting (ROU roll-forwards, lease expense, disclosures, etc.), and tracking. Assist with internal and external audit requests. Work on special projects and perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related, accredited field required Experience in public accounting (regional or Big 4) required Experience with a publicly-traded company preferred Experience with lease accounting software preferred Sage system experience preferred Minimum 2+ years' experience within an Accounting environment CPA or active pursuit required
