Job Description

Job Description:
Senior Accountant, Hybrid ($90-$100k +20% bonus & stock options)
Purpose:
The Senior Accountant ensures accurate accounting in line with US GAAP and compliance with SOX controls.
Responsibilities:
Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations (national rebates, purchase accounting, share-based compensation, equity investments) Eliminate intercompany balances and transactions during consolidation Generate monthly financial reporting packages Create quarterly schedules supporting 10-Q and 10-K reports Execute internal controls consistently Provide support for internal and external audits Collaborate with builders/land executives for accurate financial information Review vendor set-up forms, invoices, and accounts payable reports Implement new or more efficient processes and complete special projects as needed
Supervision:
Direct supervision of 2 staff accountants
Decision Making:
Exercise independent judgment on accounting treatment Make determinations on account reconciliations based on monthly journal entries Implement new or more efficient accounting and financial processes
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel, bend, lift up to 25 pounds, and use hands for handling

Plano Corporate Office Qualifications:
Education:
BS degree in Accounting; CPA completed or in process preferred
Experience:
2-4 years' accounting experience, preferably with Big 4 public accounting firms Strong understanding of US GAAP, month-end close, and financial statement preparation processes Understanding of internal controls Excellent time management and organizational skills with high attention to detail Strong analytical skills with comparative financial statements and historical financial data Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Excel, accounting software, and databases Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with staff and management
