Job Description
The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Accountant in the Payroll division of the Finance Department. Why Should You Join Our Team? We pay our Payroll Accountant a starting salary of $28.21 per hour depending on your qualifications and experience. As a Payroll Accountant, you will: Process biweekly payroll and work with P&C and Payroll Liaisons to ensure timely and accurate handling of salary and benefit changes, garnishments, taxes, and other required deductions. Process monthly new hire personnel data in Munis and ExecuTime and update accruals and benefit deductions. Create payroll batches, process payroll adjustments, and generate general ledger import files in Munis. Assist with the preparation of bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including W2's. Work directly with Payroll Liaisons and employees to help research, troubleshoot and resolve any payroll-related issues. Partner with other payroll and accounting team members to complete required tasks and cover duties in their absence.Formal Education:
Bachelor's Degree in related field from an accredited college or university preferred.Relatable Work Experience:
Two years of progressively responsible experience processing payroll required. One year in general accounting experience is preferred. Tyler Munis software experience preferred. Training (License and/or Certification): Texas Class C driver's license.
