Position overview The Staff Tax Accountant coordinates accounting information and prepares financial statements, tax returns, and estimated tax payments for individual and business clients. This role includes preparing individual, partnership, S corporation, and trust returns; assisting with research on federal and state tax issues; and maintaining accurate fixed asset and depreciation records for assigned clients. Key responsibilities Gather and organize client information, maintain partnership books, and coordinate asset listings as needed. Prepare workpapers, supporting schedules, and financial statements for partnerships, S corporations, and trusts, including identification and documentation of book/tax differences. Prepare individual income tax returns for assigned clients and assist with estimated tax calculations. Assist with preparation of personal property tax and sales tax returns for clients. Research and summarize federal and state income tax issues as assigned by the Tax Compliance Manager, staying current on changes in tax law. Maintain complete and well‑organized income tax files and documentation in accordance with firm procedures. Support the Tax Compliance Manager and other team members with special projects as assigned. Required qualifications Maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience). 1-3 years of recent experience in tax or public accounting (internships included). Strong knowledge of basic federal and state income tax concepts and willingness to continue learning. Proficiency with accounting and tax software, spreadsheets, and word processing tools; experience with QuickBooks and professional tax software strongly preferred. Strong organization, accounting, math, research, and writing skills. Ability to handle multiple deadlines, work accurately under time pressure Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Preferred qualifications CPA or EA license, or active progress toward certification. Experience preparing partnership, S corporation, and trust returns in a public accounting firm environment. Familiarity with Utah state tax rules.Compensation and benefits Salary range:
