Role:
SkyShare is seeking a driven, detail-oriented Sr. Staff Accountant to join our team. This role provides immense job satisfaction for individuals who thrive on challenges and are eager to grow with a company that values accuracy and precision in financial operations. A core part of the role is rethinking how the work gets done, including how we use technology and AI in a live accounting and finance environment. Position:
Partnering directly with the Director of Accounting, you'll bring structure, consistency, and timely review to day-to-day operations and, just as importantly, you'll have a real hand in designing the processes and procedures themselves. The immediate priority is to create repeatable reconciliation and review processes that catch errors early, before they become problems. Long-term, you'll help define and scale best practices for the department. At SkyShare, initiative, ownership, and a steady drive to improve carry as much weight as technical skill.

Job Responsibilities:
Own and systematize the account reconciliation process by developing repeatable monthly procedures and review checkpoints Help design, implement, and continuously improve accounting processes, procedures, and controls as the business scales Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, and AI within accounting and finance operations, partnering with leadership to implement solutions Review the work product of the accounting team, identifying and correcting errors on a timely basis Support monthly and quarterly close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries and supporting schedules Provide technical accounting support through research, documentation, and application of GAAP Drive NetSuite optimization, automation, and process-improvement initiatives alongside the Director of Accounting Prepare account analyses and assist with audit preparation and compliance activities Provide guidance, training, and quality review for accounting staff
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience Strong technical accounting foundation and working knowledge of GAAP Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational/project-management instincts Comfort with technology and an interest in applying it (including AI tools ) to accounting work Experience reviewing others' work and driving process improvement (preferred) Ability to work onsite in the Salt Lake City metro area (onsite during onboarding, with hybrid possible thereafter) CPA or active CPA candidate (preferred) Aviation or related industry experience (preferred)
Skills:
Systems-thinking mindset with a genuine drive to build, improve, and optimize processes Comfortable questioning "the way it's always been done" and identifying better solutions Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), bookkeeping principles, methods, and procedures, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, organizational skills, and project management abilities Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and improvement Strong work ethic, self-motivation, professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and business/computer acumen NetSuite experience (strongly preferred)

$75,000 - $85,000 annually, depending on experience
