Small Tax Firm Overview:

Our small, client-focused tax firm is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Staff Accountant or Bookkeeper to support daily accounting functions for approximately 15-20 diverse clients. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable communicating directly with clients to deliver outstanding service.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for a portfolio of small business and individual clients, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. + Prepare and record journal entries; maintain accurate, organized financial records. + Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes and schedules. + Support the preparation of financial statements and basic financial analysis for review by senior team members. + Collaborate with tax preparers to gather client data, organize support for tax returns, and assist in basic tax preparation as needed. + Respond to client inquiries promptly and professionally; provide guidance on accounting processes and software. + Help implement and maintain accounting controls and best practices for clients. + Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing (if required by clients). + Stay up to date with accounting standards and tax regulations relevant to client needs.

Requirements Required Qualifications:

+ Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or similar area preferred. + 2+ years of bookkeeping and/or accounting experience, ideally supporting small businesses or tax clients. + Proficient with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms. + Strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills. + Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. + Clear written and verbal communication abilities. + Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
