Are you an accounting professional who enjoys diving into the details while also seeing the bigger picture? Our client is currently expanding their residential real estate portfolio, and is now seeking a Senior Property Accountant who is ready to take ownership of financial reporting, collaborate across departments, and help drive excellence throughout our accounting operations! This is more than a traditional property accounting role. You'll serve as a trusted financial partner to asset management, property operations, and executive leadership while supporting the accounting activities of a growing REIT platform. NOTE(s): •REIT Experience Highly Preferred•Full-time | Monday-Friday Standard business hours with flexibility as needed during month-end and reporting cycles. Own the Financial Reporting Process! You'll oversee monthly accounting and reporting activities for a portfolio of residential properties, ensuring financial information is accurate, timely, and meaningful.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing month-end close activities and preparing journal entries Recording depreciation, amortization, accruals, prepaid expenses, and reserve activity Reconciling bank accounts and balance sheet accounts Reviewing property-level financial data and researching discrepancies Monitoring mortgage, escrow, insurance, and property tax activity Preparing and distributing monthly financial reporting packages to stakeholders Supporting operational teams with financial questions and reporting needs Support a Growing REIT Platform! In addition to property-level accounting, you'll contribute to the financial operations of our REIT structure and corporate entities by: Preparing and reviewing accounting entries and financial reports Assisting with cash management activities, including ACH transactions, wires, and payment processing Monitoring daily cash balances and treasury activity Performing corporate bank reconciliations Supporting month-end close and financial consolidation efforts Assisting with external audit requests and financial documentation Be a Strategic Business Partner! We're looking for someone who enjoys collaborating with others and using financial information to drive better decisions. In this role, you'll: Partner with asset management, operations, and leadership teams to review financial performance Analyze variances and identify trends impacting property results Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and strengthen controls Assist with accounting system implementations, conversions, and testing initiatives Help ensure compliance with tax filings, licenses, and regulatory requirements Participate in special projects that support the continued growth of the organization What Makes You Successful? Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting 4+ years of progressive accounting experience •REIT accounting experience•Strong understanding of financial reporting, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment Preferred Qualifications CPA designation or Master's degree Real estate, property management in the Experience with Yardi or similar property accounting software Familiarity with property-level reporting and financial consolidations If you're looking for an opportunity where you can make an impact, work alongside talented professionals, and contribute to the growth of a dynamic real estate organization, we encourage you to apply
