Staff Accountant TriSource - 3.9 McLean, VA Job Details Temp-to-hire $36 - $40 an hour 23 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Account analysis Bachelor's degree Attention to detail GAAP Full Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations during a temporary to permanent engagement. This role offers hands-on exposure to the full accounting cycle and is ideal for an accounting professional looking to further develop their experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. The Staff Accountant will work closely with senior accounting team members and play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring the integrity of accounting data. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and eager to contribute while gaining broad exposure across multiple accounting functions. What You'll Do Prepare and record daily accounting transactions and journal entries. Assist with maintaining the general ledger and ensuring accurate financial records. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities. Prepare recurring journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and depreciation. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items. Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for financial reporting. Assist with bank reconciliations and cash account maintenance. Support cash management activities, including recording deposits and monitoring account activity. Process accounts payable transactions and maintain vendor records. Assist with accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, cash applications, and collections support. Maintain fixed asset records and assist with depreciation tracking. Prepare supporting workpapers and schedules for internal and external reporting. Assist with audit preparation and provide documentation for auditor requests. Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation. Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures. Collaborate with internal departments to gather financial information and resolve accounting issues. Support accounting system enhancements, automation projects, and process improvement initiatives. Complete assigned close deliverables in accordance with established deadlines. Perform ad hoc reporting and special projects as assigned. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 2-3 years of accounting experience in a corporate, public accounting, or related environment. Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting. Understanding of month-end close processes and financial reporting. Working knowledge of
U.S. GAAP
principles. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis. Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Sage Intacct, or Microsoft Dynamics preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Perfect Fit? Experience supporting month-end close activities. Prior exposure to audit preparation and financial reporting. Experience working in a high-growth or fast-paced business environment. Familiarity with process improvement and accounting automation initiatives. NetSuite experience is a plus.
