Aya Healthcare is seeking an experienced Budget Accountant in Newport News, VA for a 3 month temp to hire role! Newport News, VA (Denbigh Professional Park) $30-$40 per Hour 3-Month Contract-to-Hire 100% Onsite Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 8a-5p Launch Your Accounting Career with a Leading Healthcare Organization We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Budget Accountant to join a growing healthcare finance team in Newport News, Virginia. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with strong potential for permanent employment. The organization is actively seeking candidates interested in long-term career growth and professional development. As a Budget Accountant, you will support financial planning, budgeting, cost reporting, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis initiatives while working closely with leadership and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities Complete complex accounting analyses requiring independent application of accounting principles and accounting theory. Prepare and analyze contractual adjustments, charity care reserves, bad debt reserves, and other financial reporting components. Prepare and file Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlement documentation. Develop, maintain, and monitor annual operating budgets. Prepare Federal, State, and Local tax returns. Complete COPN regulatory reporting and cost analysis activities. Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making. Interpret and communicate federal and state regulations impacting healthcare finance and accounting operations. Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend enhancements to accounting functions. Serve as a liaison with auditors, consultants, taxing authorities, regulatory agencies, and organizational leadership. Ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity of financial reporting. Support budget planning, forecasting, and cost analysis initiatives. Required QualificationsEducation Bachelor's Degree in Accounting OR Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Business with an Accounting concentration Accounting concentration typically includes approximately 21 accounting credit hours Experience Minimum 1 year of accounting experience involving: Financial Analysis Budgeting Financial Statements Technical Skills Advanced Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables Advanced Formulas Financial Analysis & Reporting Tools Additional Qualifications Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities independently Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience working in highly computerized financial environments Ability to interpret and communicate financial regulations and compliance requirements
Pay:
$30.00 - $40.00 per hour
