We are looking for a Staff Accountant in a hybrid capacity in Reston, VA.
Job Details:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations, with responsibilities across accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger activities. This role focuses on accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP and FAR, and supporting senior accounting leadership on audits and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and manage accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, and payment processing Support semi-monthly payroll processing, including validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and assist with month-end close Support accounting for government contract types (FFP, CPFF, T&M) in compliance with FAR Assist with maintaining and improving internal controls and accounting procedures Support external audits and DCAA requests by preparing documentation and schedules Assist with incurred cost submissions and other compliance-related reporting Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and financial data integrity
Required Qualifications:
3-6 years of accounting experience Experience with accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger functions Working knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with FAR or government contract accounting Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (Deltek Costpoint preferred) High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Experience working in a small or mid-sized business environment
Preferred Qualitifcations:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred Experience in a government contracting environment Familiarity with Paylocity or similar payroll systems Exposure to DCAA audits or compliance processes #LI-OM1 group id: 90970707 Apply now
