Job Description
Position Summary The Accountant supports the financial operations of the Local Office on Aging by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, assisting with reporting, and supporting audit readiness. This role helps ensure compliance with agency policies, grant requirements, and accounting standards. Essential Duties Process accounts payable, deposits, receipts, and other financial transactions. Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation. Code transactions to appropriate programs and funding sources. Assist with reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit preparation. Maintain vendor files and supporting records. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with financial policies and procedures. Support internal controls, record retention, and compliance requirements. Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1-3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy. Ability to manage confidential information professionally. Preferred Qualifications Experience with nonprofit, grant, or fund accounting. Experience supporting audits or compliance reviews. Work Environment Office-based position with regular computer use.
