Job Description

Overview The General Ledger Compliance Accountant is responsible for performing core general accounting functions, maintaining fixed asset records, ensuring compliance with indirect tax and business registration requirements, and supporting overall financial accuracy and timeliness for UICGS and its subsidiaries. Responsibilities
  • Perform general accounting functions, including creating and uploading adjusting and recurring journal entries, completing month-end close tasks, and reconciling various balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain capital asset records, including additions, disposals, and transfers; calculation and record depreciation expense in FAS and the financial accounting system for UICGS and its subsidiaries.
  • Maintain business personal property records and prepare and file annual business personal property tax returns for UICGS and its subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Prepare and file annual personal property tax returns for UICGS and its subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Ensure compliance with sales and use tax requirements, including the timely preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual returns, as applicable.
  • Manage foreign corporate registrations for UICGS and its subsidiaries, and coordinate with the third-party vendor (CSC) to ensure all annual reports and related filings with Secretaries of State are completed accurately and on time.
  • Manage and coordinate all business license registrations for all required states and localities for UICGS and its subsidiaries; work with the third-party vendor (CSC) to ensure business licenses are obtained, renewed, and maintained in compliance with all applicable requirements.
  • Handle daily cash deposits, including preparing bank deposits, coding transactions, and preparing cash receipts packages for posting in the financial system.
  • Assist with responding to inquiries from internal stakeholders, auditors, and regulatory authorities related to assigned areas (e.g., sales/use tax, property tax, licenses, registrations, fixed assets).
  • Support process improvements and documentation related to general ledger, tax compliance, and licensing/registration activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of accounting experience in medium or large size organization is preferred
  • Previous exposure and familiarity with government contract accounting, GAAP, FAR, and other principles, practices, and procedures of financial accounting field and be able to apply that knowledge to all related assignment is a plus
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint Accounting and Project modules is a plus
  • A proactive nature to help embed process improvement and ability to work closely with other functions are key attributes
  • Ability to exercise judgement in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to achieve results on new ad hoc assignments
  • Capability to work on complex issues that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors, and to evaluate priorities and multitasking accordingly
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interface cross functionally within the organization and outside customers
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, along with the ability to work cohesively within a team, are critical aspects of this position
  • Must work well under pressure and excel at meeting deadlines
  • Team-oriented and flexible, must be able to work closely with all levels of management
  • Requires advanced excel proficiency
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
