Job Description

Job Overview Johnstone Supply of Virginia Beach is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex accounting functions, contribute to financial reporting, and support organizational growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, experience with various accounting software, and a solid understanding of GAAP and regulatory standards. This position is integral to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Responsibilities Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and accounts receivable/payable processes. Oversee and assist with financial report writing and interpretation for internal and external stakeholders. Perform cash flow analysis, bank reconciliations, and budgeting activities. Support auditing processes by preparing documentation and facilitating audits. Maintain accurate records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, or similar platforms. Mentor junior staff members and provide guidance on technical accounting issues. Assist with regulatory reporting, tax preparation, and other financial management tasks. Collaborate on financial concepts such as accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, and financial analysis to improve processes. Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments. Proven expertise in GAAP, financial statement preparation, and financial report interpretation. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, or similar platforms; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential. Strong knowledge of financial concepts including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and regulatory reporting. Demonstrated ability to mentor team members and manage multiple priorities effectively. From $70,000.00 per year
