What We're Looking For Icy Strait Seafoods is looking for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys operating in a lean organization where they can make an immediate impact. This position is ideal for someone who wants broad exposure to all aspects of accounting and financial operations while growing into a larger leadership role over time. About Icy Strait Seafoods Icy Strait Seafoods is a leading seafood processor with operations throughout Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. We are seeking a highly motivated accounting professional to join our team and play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of the company. This position offers significant growth potential and will work closely with senior management while assuming increasing responsibility within the accounting organization. The successful candidate will become a critical member of the finance team and help lead the company's accounting and financial reporting functions. Position Summary The Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller will oversee daily accounting operations, cash management, month-end close, financial reporting, and accounting staff. This is a hands-on position requiring a strong accounting background, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operating environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, solving problems, improving processes, and taking ownership of the company's accounting function. Primary ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Month-End Close
  • Lead and manage the monthly close process.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Review account reconciliations and balance sheet analyses.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including: o Payroll entries o Accruals o Depreciation o Inventory adjustments o Intercompany transactions o Eliminating entries
  • Assist with annual audits and year-end reporting. General Ledger & Accounting Operations
  • Maintain the general ledger and accounting records within NetSuite.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
  • Manage monthly consolidations and elimination entries. Treasury & Cash Management
  • Manage daily banking activity.
  • Process ACH payments and wire transfers.
  • Monitor cash balances and cash flow requirements.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and treasury activity.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over cash receipts and disbursements. Tax Compliance
  • Prepare and file monthly and periodic tax returns and reports.
  • Coordinate with outside tax advisors and auditors as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. Team Leadership Supervise and support accounting personnel including:
  • Accounts Payable
  • Inventory Accounting
  • Staff Accountants Responsibilities include:
  • Workload management and prioritization
  • Training and development
  • Performance management
  • Process improvement and cross-training Systems & Process Improvement
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes within NetSuite.
  • Assist with ERP enhancements and process automation.
  • Strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy. Ad Hoc Analysis & Special Projects
  • Prepare financial analyses and management reports.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Assist with operational and strategic projects as assigned. QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities. Preferred
  • NetSuite experience.
  • Manufacturing, seafood, food processing, distribution, or inventory accounting experience.
  • Experience with consolidations and intercompany accounting.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
