This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to take ownership of inventory accounting within a dynamic consumer products environment. In this highly visible role, you'll lead the accounting and reporting processes surrounding inventory, ensuring accurate valuation, financial reporting, and compliance with company policies. You'll play a key role in month-end close, inventory analysis, and cost management while partnering closely with operations, supply chain, and finance leaders to enhance reporting accuracy, improve inventory visibility, and support strategic business decisions. This position offers significant cross-functional exposure and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both financial performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end inventory accounting activities, including valuation methods and reserve calculations (e.g., excess and obsolete stock) Execute key components of the month-end close tied to inventory, including journal entries, reconciliations, and fluctuation analysis Evaluate inventory activity, cost of goods sold, and margin performance, translating data into meaningful insights for leadership Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, and operations teams to ensure inventory data integrity and accurate costing flows Strengthen and maintain internal control processes over inventory accounting, including SOX-related compliance requirements Coordinate or support periodic physical counts and ongoing cycle count programs, including investigation and resolution of variances Review inventory-related accruals, adjustments, and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness Assist with external audit requests by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries related to inventory Participate in system enhancements, ERP updates, and process improvement initiatives impacting inventory and cost accounting
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience in manufacturing, retail, distribution, or consumer goods environments preferred Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles Experience working with ERP systems (various platforms acceptable) Strong Excel and analytical skill set Detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Compensation & Benefits:
Base salary range: $82,000 - $92,000 depending on experience and qualifications Eligible for bonus compensation and potential equity incentives Standard benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan options This is a strong opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working at the intersection of finance and operations, particularly in an environment where inventory plays a critical role in business performance.
