$85-120k depending on experience. Position Overview PCF Construction Group is seeking a meticulous Senior Accountant I with a focus on payroll and accounts payable to support the company's growing accounting operations. This role is responsible for the accurate processing of accounts payable and payroll administration, ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded, approved, and aligned with company policies and GAAP principles. The ideal candidate has strong experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) (or similar system) and Quickbooks Online Advanced; is adept with technology, advanced analytics and AI; demonstrates exceptional attention to detail; and is comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment with multiple projects and cost centers. This position requires a minimum of three days per week in our Kent headquarters, with the remaining schedule potentially eligible for hybrid flexibility. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding to general ledger accounts, jobs, and cost codes. Maintain accurate vendor records and assist with vendor onboarding and documentation. Prepare payment batches (ACH, check, and credit card) for management approval. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies. Monitor AP aging and assist with cash flow visibility for upcoming payables. Assist in evaluating, selecting, and implementing an AP management tool. Payroll Administration Administer payroll using ADP Workforce Now, including payroll data review, validation, audit checks, and analytics. Monitor the company payroll email address, respond to employees, and ensure all payroll items are addressed timely. Coordinate payroll inputs such as hours, compensation adjustments, bonuses, and deductions. Reconcile payroll reports and assist with payroll-related journal entries. Manage payroll filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Support and respond to employee payroll matters and coordinate with ADP specialists, consultants, and leadership for guidance as needed. Maintain payroll records and state/local accounts. Assist with year-end payroll activities including W-2 review and audits. Assist in evaluating payroll system solutions and determining whether migration from ADP WFN could be advantageous. Benefits Support Liaison with benefit providers, brokers, and ADP specialists regarding employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and other offerings. Reconcile benefit records to payroll deductions and financial records to ensure completeness and accuracy. Ensure completeness and accuracy of the benefits system of record (Employee Navigator). Prepare and file Form 1095-C's annually. Accounting Operations Ensure financial transactions comply with GAAP accounting principles and company policies. Support monthly close processes including reconciliations, transaction review, adjusting journal entries, and accruals. Assist with internal controls related to payroll and accounts payable. Maintain organized financial documentation to support audits and reporting. Prepare accurate job costing and reporting. Collaborate with sales and production management teams. Prepare and submit B&O tax filings. Manage business licenses and other compliance items. Other accounting projects and tasks, as needed. Data Analytics, AI, Systems Leverage advanced analytics, exception reporting, AI, and other tools to identify errors, streamline processes, and support completeness and accuracy of accounting, payroll, and other financial reporting. Help model and build analytics tools Qualifications Required Minimum 6 years of accounting experience in accounts payable, payroll, or accounting operations; both payroll and accounting experience required. Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles. payroll requirements and federal/state compliance. building analytics and leveraging AI Meticulous attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and conduct independent research to solve problems and bring forward recommended solutions. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting systems, and AI tools. Ability to work on-site at our Kent, WA headquarters at least three days per week. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Strongly Preferred CPA license, CMA credential, or similar. Experience in construction, project-based, or job-cost accounting environments. Direct experience processing accurate payroll and compliance filings for 150+ employees. Expertise working with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) [or similar application] and Quickbooks Online Advanced. Familiarity with systems such as Buildertrend, or similar CRM or job costing programs.
