Job Description

Manufacturing Cost Accountant American Paper Converting The Manufacturing Cost Accountant is responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining product cost structures that directly inform finished goods pricing. This role partners closely with Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and Sales to ensure pricing decisions are grounded in accurate cost data, margin targets, and business strategy. The position plays a key role in profitability analysis, cost optimization, and financial visibility across the manufacturing lifecycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and maintain standard costs for finished goods, including materials, labor, and overhead allocations. Audit BOM accuracy and collaborate with Planning and Operations to ensure cost structures reflect current production inputs. Analyze purchase price, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, and manufacturing variances; communicate drivers and corrective actions. Prepare and validate overhead cost for new and existing products to support pricing and margin analysis. Develop cost and opportunity based pricing models that align with margin goals and market strategy. Provide pricing upon customer request and manage contract data and analysis. Support monthly close activities, including inventory valuation, cost adjustments, and reconciliation. Participate in year-end inventory counting, closing and reconciliation. Recommend and implement improvements to costing methodologies, data accuracy, and financial controls. Work with production, procurement, and engineering to understand cost drivers and support operational decision making. Provide assistant to other accounting functions as needed.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting or similar role Proficiency in ERP systems Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, Powe BI, formulas) Excellent time-management with the ability to work independently Strong attention to detail Outstanding organizational ability Excellent verbal and written communication skills Company offers competitive salary acknowledging work experience and benefits package.
