Job Description

Job Summary:
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing cost accounting functions within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and financial analysis to support operational efficiency and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for materials Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights Monitor inventory transactions and work orders to ensure accurate inventory valuation Oversee cycle counting program and partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory controls Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and reconciliations Prepare cost-related financial reports, including margin analysis and product profitability Assist with audits by providing documentation and analysis as required
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred) 5-8+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management Proficiency in ERP systems (Dynamics 365 preferred) and advanced Excel skills Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy
