Accountant / Bookkeeper

Accountant East Madison, WI | On-site Full-Time | $80,000 - $95,000 About the Company We're working with a well-established and expanding construction organization looking to bring on an Accountant to support one of their core business units focused on trucking and storage operations. This role sits close to the day-to-day operations and plays a key part in keeping financials accurate, compliant, and efficient. About the Role You'll be stepping into a role with real ownership across the lifecycle of a job. From initial cost tracking through billing and closeout, this position plays a key part in making sure projects are financially accurate and running smoothly. Responsibilities Process and review daily trucking tickets, mileage, and related activity Manage intercompany transactions, billing, and reconciliations Perform bank and account reconciliations Track fixed assets and handle depreciation schedules Prepare recurring journal entries (accruals, taxes, interest, etc.) Manage sales and use tax filings and compliance Support financial statement preparation and reporting Work closely with project managers to track job costs, billing, and vendor activity Investigate discrepancies across invoices, quotes, and project data Help improve processes related to cost tracking, billing workflows, and overall accuracy Qualifications Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with experience in construction or project-based environments preferred Strong understanding of job costing, billing workflows, and working closely with project managers or operations teams Experience with job costing, billing, or project-based accounting concepts Process-driven mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies, improve workflows, and support cost control Experience with Sage/Timberline or similar ERP systems would be advantageous This is an excellent opportunity to join an established yet growing firm with a great infrastructure for career development.
