Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for an organization in Madison, Wisconsin. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing daily transactions, and helping ensure timely month-end reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of general ledger activity, payables and receivables, payroll administration, and cost accounting in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and record journal entries to keep financial data accurate and up to date.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to support reliable reporting.
• Manage accounts payable activities, including reviewing invoices and coordinating timely payments.
• Oversee accounts receivable processing, monitor incoming payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Administer full-cycle payroll to ensure employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
• Assist with month-end close by reconciling accounts and compiling supporting documentation.
• Support standard costing processes by tracking cost data and helping analyze variances.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve the accuracy and efficiency of accounting workflows.
