Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to support a non-profit organization in Green Bay, Wisconsin through a Long-term Contract assignment. This role focuses on core accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit readiness while helping maintain strong internal controls and accurate records. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with finance staff in a mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities while safeguarding sensitive financial information and maintaining accurate records.
  • Prepare recurring and non-routine journal entries and support timely completion of month-end close activities.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items promptly.
  • Build and maintain financial reports and spreadsheet-based analyses that support leadership decision-making, including statement recaps and forecast-related reporting.
  • Review payroll record updates and perform internal control checks on payroll changes processed by the payroll function.
  • Produce assigned reimbursement billings, quarterly grant reports, and audit schedules with complete supporting documentation.
  • Track fixed assets and prepaid expenses, ensuring balances are properly recorded and updated.
  • Provide backup support for payroll and accounts payable functions, including guidance and cross-functional assistance when needed.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by organizing records and supplying requested reports and documentation efficiently.
  • Contribute to process improvements that strengthen financial accountability, reporting accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
