Full Job Description About Horizon Retail Construction:
Horizon Retail Construction is a nationally recognized general contractor specializing in tenant improvement. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and driven Tax Accountant to join the team at our corporate headquarters in Sturtevant, Wisconsin. We take pride in delivering quality projects, building strong relationships, and fostering a collaborative team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review sales/use tax returns Research and interpret state and local tax laws and regulations Manage state sales and use tax audits and respond to notices Support tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities across jurisdictions Maintain compliance calendars and filing deadlines Collaborate with internal teams on tax-related issues Stay current on changes in state sales and use tax laws and SALT developments Vendor W-9 verification Manage income and franchise tax payments provided by external accounting firm
Summary of Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA or CPA-eligible preferred 5+ years of experience in state and local tax Strong understanding of multistate taxation principles Experience with tax software (e.g. Avalara, Sage) preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
Experience in public accounting or corporate tax department Knowledge of sales & use tax and indirect tax compliance Familiarity with tax research tools (e.g. Avalara)
