POSITION SUMMARY
This Senior Accountant position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact well with others outside the direct reporting chain. The candidate should possess a solid foundation of core and occasional advanced accounting knowledge and be able to problem solve issues in accordance with
U.S. GAAP.
This position plays a key day-to-day role in the Five Star corporate accounting team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides financial analysis and guidance to support revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606, partnering with operations personnel, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliverables. Prepares month-end journal entries and performs detailed balance sheet and income statement reconciliations. Maintains Corporate fixed asset system including asset records, depreciation, disposals, and other associated required schedules. Maintains lease accounting under ASC 842, recommending process improvements and potential system changes. Supports and prepares submissions for external audits, tax, regulatory agencies, and others, as needed, facilitating overall successful and efficient completion of reviews and audits. Assists with developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Assists with preparing and analyzing financial statements, reports, budgets and forecasts for management and other internal/external stakeholders, to support business decisions. Monitors and aids with forecasting cash flow. Reviews financial performance and assists with flux (variance) review of actual versus budget and forecast performance, summarizing findings for management. Identifies, recommends, and assists with implementing improvements to the overall Five Star accounting structure, focusing on accounting workflows and systems. Prepares government reports and other miscellaneous compliance requirements.
OTHER DUTIES
Support ad-hoc projects on an as-needed basis. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, with minimum of four (4) years' accounting or financial experience desired Strong knowledge of accounting principles and application, as well as internal controls experience desirable. Experience with Acumatica or other construction software a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to effectively summarize information into clear and concise updates for various levels of management and external stakeholders. Team player with good interpersonal skills and contributor to positive team dynamic. Strong organizational and analytical abilities with high attention to detail, having the ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects. Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate across cross-functional teams. Normal office environment
