Cost Accountant, Manufacturing Charleston, WV | Full-Time | $75,000 to $90,000 per year, plus 12% 401(k) match and quarterly bonus eligibility A global, family-owned manufacturing company based in Charleston, West Virginia is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its finance team. This role sits at the intersection of cost analysis, inventory control, and operational improvement, working directly with plant and operations management to drive accuracy and efficiency across the manufacturing cost environment. Schedule Monday through Friday, standard business hours. The role requires schedule flexibility and will include intermittent travel. [Confirm remote/hybrid/on-site arrangement with client before posting.] Compensation $75,000 to $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus quarterly bonus eligibility. What You'll Do As Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for the monthly analysis of cost variances and the implementation of corrective actions. You will validate cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close process and reconcile the inventory subledger to the general ledger. Investigating cycle count variances and resolving discrepancies will be a regular part of your work. You will oversee daily inventory control operations, including monitoring stock levels, material movements, and transactions. Through analysis of inventory data, you will identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement. You will also direct and participate in cost analyses, rate studies, and the review of standard manufacturing costs, as well as all aspects of physical inventory and inventory reconciliation. A meaningful part of this role involves evaluating internal controls and costing system processes. You will identify weaknesses that affect inventory and cost integrity, propose process changes that improve efficiency and reporting accuracy, and work with operations management to identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve plant performance. You will develop user-facing reports that communicate key cost drivers and their relevance to profitability. Additional responsibilities include reviewing production job data, investigating discrepancies, closing out production jobs, and maintaining the roof bit return program. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field Minimum three years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment Working knowledge of standard, weighted average, and actual cost accounting methods Experience with a fully integrated ERP system Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Ability to travel intermittently as needed Preferred Qualifications Experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP Proficiency with Cognos Business Intelligence or Crystal Reports Demonstrated experience identifying internal control weaknesses and implementing process improvements Strong presentation and written communication skills for cross-functional reporting Experience working directly with plant operations or production teams Compensation and Benefits Base salary of $75,000 to $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience Quarterly bonus eligibility Medical coverage through a standard PPO plan with deductibles as low as $1,500 and a wellness credit of up to $750 Free concierge primary care and free telemedicine services Voluntary 401(k) plan with company match currently up to 12% Voluntary dental and vision plans Basic life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage To apply, submit your resume along with a brief overview of your cost accounting and manufacturing experience.
