Job Description

ACCOUNTANT II JOB DESCRIPTION GENERAL DEFINITION
This is full performance level accounting work involving primary responsibility for carrying out assigned duties in records maintenance, accounting and information technology. Work is performed with supervision from a technical or administrative superior. Responsibilities include providing financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, and preparing reports.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF ACCOUNTING WORK
o Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. o Report to management regarding the finances of the agency. o Establish tables of accounts, and assign entries to proper accounts. o Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs. o Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities. o Review monthly bank statements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
o Attendance is an essential function of the job o Strong understanding of accounting theory o Knowledge of business arithmetic, business English, spelling, and punctuation. o Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment. o Knowledge of budgeting and accounting policies and procedures. o Ability to make computations and tabulations accurately and with reasonable speed. o Ability to type accurately and with reasonable speed. o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public. o Ability to maintain records and files in an organized and complete manner. o Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. o Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications o Accuracy in daily work and other projects. o Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines. o Ability to maintain good working relationships with vendors and other employees. o Ability to function as a team player . o Ability to allocate time efficiently
