POSITION
Professional Accountant
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR
Director of Finance
EMPLOYMENT TERM
Minimum 261 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; WCSBOE may establish extended employment terms.
SALARY:
Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Wood County Schools Specialist Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.

JOB SUMMARY
Perform a variety of accounts receivable duties to ensure that all monies collected are classified properly in the accounting ledger and deposited timely into the appropriate bank account. Perform a variety of duties to ensure all individual school audits are completed accurately and timely in accordance with an audit program containing a detailed list of required school auditing procedures. Perform a variety of duties to provide ongoing accounting support to school staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Identify the source of revenue for the school system and classify all receipt collections to the proper revenue account codes. 2. Assist with daily bank deposits. 3. Prepare specific monthly revenue reports for the Treasurer. 4. Monitor the flow of accounts receivable processing. 5. Provide CPA firm auditors with supporting documentation and answer all questions related to the accounts receivable function in connection with the performance of the annual financial audit of the school system. 6. Resolve any administrative problems with schools or others in connection with the remittance of various types of payments to the school system. 7. Assist payroll accountants with various situations 8. Payroll processing including generating semi-monthly and make-up check runs 9. Assist with maintaining charts for employees with incomplete contracts. 10. Assist with payroll deductions and remittances 11. Adhere to all payroll deadlines and ensure timely payroll submission every cycle 12. Accounts Payable Support as needed 13. Insurance & Payroll Support as needed 14. Purchasing Support as needed 15. Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Treasurer
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, preferably with a concentration in Accounting /Finance. 2. Three year or more years work experience in accounting in either business or government (Preferred). 3. Must possess a minimum of 24 semester hours of coursework in accounting with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA as required by WVDE for the professional accountant certification. 4. Ability to utilize Excel software for accounting and finance applications. 5. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 6. Willingness to learn the West Virginia Education Information System (WVEIS). 7. Willingness to learn the School Funds Online System (SFO) 8. Good understanding of the basic concepts of generally accepted accounting principles in connection with a double-entry accounting system. 9. A collaborative mindset
