HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
Responsible for the application and integrity of cost accounting practices in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This includes, but is not limited to planning, collecting, and analyzing data to determine and report all cost factors affecting production such as raw material purchases, inventory management costs, production labor, outside services, and machine shop activity. Track and report on all raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and consignment inventory. Achievement of objectives must include an overriding commitment to quality that must permeate the areas of responsibility. Enable and Drive Change in the Organization.
  • THIS POSITION CAN WORK OUT OF OUR LIVERMORE OR SAN JOSE OFFICE.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Responsible for supervising the cost accounting team.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of inventory cost data.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of standard material costs and rates. o Annual evaluation of tiered pricing and purchasing patterns to determine whether the standard should be updated. o Proactively review reports of items with a $0 standard cost and communicate with Operations to determine if standard cost updates are needed.
  • Review, identify, and monitor potential obsolete and excess inventory and calculate the necessary reserves for management's review.
  • Perform periodic review of labor and overhead rates to ensure proper pricing of the company's products.
  • Ensures timely preparation and distribution of actual to budget cost center reports, inventory-related reports, and other miscellaneous month-end management reports including any necessary analysis, reconciliations, and explanation of results.
  • Review and distribute PPV and WO Variance reports to operations, for review, explanations, and sign off.
  • Communication and partnering with Operations on variance review as needed.
  • Assist in periodic inventory counts and evaluate the adequacy of the inventory count program.
  • Prepare the month-end cost accounting journal entries and monthly reconciliation of perpetual inventory to the general ledger.
  • Perform the quarterly warranty reserve analysis for management review.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts.
  • Responsible for the preparation of all inventory-related reports.
  • Assists in the budget and forecasting processes as it pertains to cost of goods and manufacturing expenses, as requested.
  • Responsible for accounting projects that will be assigned from time to time.
  • Prepare quarterly and year-end audit documentation (review of account balances/explanation of changes), based on requests received from our audit partners.
  • Monitors the cost accounting activities of others to ensure consistency in reporting and compliance to Ferrotec and J-Sox Controls.
Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL 7
years cost accounting experience in a standard cost manufacturing environment.

Experience in an advanced MRP II environment.

Proficient in Windows-based PC software packages including spreadsheet and word processing (Excel and Word, etc.)Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, and proven problem-solving skills.

Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and work independently.

Attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance Oracle experience.
