We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with winery accounting experience to perform a broad range of general accounting functions. In this role, you will oversee general ledgers, manage inventory, handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), process payroll, and conduct financial analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in winery accounting, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. Critical thinking skills are essential, as this position will work closely with the owner and is vital to our financial operations.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Managing all internal financial controls Maintaining the general ledger, including general journals and balance sheet account reconciliations Processing bi-weekly payroll Calculate and process monthly incentive amounts for the sales team Performing monthly bank reconciliations Overseeing and conducting monthly reconciliations for wine, merchandise, and bulk wine inventory Accounting for the costing of bottled wine, and bulk wine Preparing year-end reconciliations and schedules for tax accountant Processing annual 1096 and 1099 forms, unsecured business property statements, and other corporate filings Entering deposits and recording customer payments Calculating and submitting California Sales & Use Tax Returns Reporting and distributing sales and overall financial results to management, with the ability to analyze large datasets Reviewing accounts receivable entries and monitoring collections Executing harvest-related duties, including tracking tags and processing payments in the yearly harvest report This comprehensive range of responsibilities will ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field At least four years of progressively responsible accounting experience High level of discretion and strong ethical standards Proficiency in QuickBooks Experience in manufacturing and cost accounting Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the capacity to manage priorities and workflow effectively Please, no inquiries from outside staffing agencies or independent remote bookkeepers regarding remote positions. We are seeking someone to work on-site in the office.
