Jobs › Reading, MA › Accounting Assistant Robert Half Accounting Assistant Reading, MA Apply Description We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial and account servicing operations in Reading, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable handling account-related inquiries, transaction support, and administrative processing. The role will contribute to accurate recordkeeping, timely issue resolution, and dependable support across accounting and customer account activities.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate account-related questions, identify the root cause of issues, and take appropriate steps to resolve them while elevating complex matters when necessary.
- Handle stop payment updates with accuracy and ensure all related records are properly maintained.
- Process customer address changes and confirm account information is updated correctly in internal records.
- Conduct account reviews and complete verification requests by gathering and validating relevant information.
- Examine deposit account transactions and supporting documents to confirm activity and address discrepancies.
- Prepare and record accounting transactions to maintain accurate financial data.
- Manage outgoing correspondence, including the handling and follow-up of returned mail items.
- Support routine accounting operations by maintaining organized documentation and assisting with financial record accuracy. Requirements
- Experience supporting accounting operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Familiarity with bank reconciliations and the ability to review account activity carefully.
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Ability to code invoices accurately and maintain organized financial records.
- Strong research and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for handling account-related inquiries.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a structured, deadline-driven environment.
