Job Description

Job Summary:
We are a full service marina, boat storage facility, yacht brokerage and boat/trailer dealership on beautiful Casco Bay in South Portland. South Port Marine has been growing for several years, and we are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Accounting and Administrative Assistant to join our finance team to assist with accounting, human resources, sales administration and general administration.
General Description:
Responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
  • Enter daily Accounts Payable invoices accurately and according to appropriate cost centers.
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable monthly statements and collection calls.
  • Act as a liaison between sales and accounting to ensure that accounting receives the appropriate paperwork for new boat sales and new boat arrivals for inventory.
  • Process claims for co-op advertising.
  • Support general office operations, and perform clerical duties such as maintaining record keeping, filing systems and database files.
  • Prepare paperwork required for new hires and establish personnel files.
  • Organize and place uniform orders for all departments.
  • Process office supply orders for all departments.
  • Maintain a clean and professional work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. To be successful you must have:
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as computer, copy-machine and calculator.
  • Experience with
Microsoft Office Software:
Word and Excel.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail, flexibility and reliability are required.
  • A willingness to learn and desire to grow both professionally and personally.
  • Ability to work in a team environment but also handle independent projects.
  • A strong work ethic and unquestionable integrity.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Self-confidence to work unsupervised.
Work Experience Required:
  • One year experience
Education Requirements:
  • Minimum Accounting 101 and 102 college courses or applicable work experience.
  • Associate degree a plus.
Pay based on
Experience Job Type:
Full-time Base Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
