Accounting Supervisor Merichem - 3.8 Houston, TX Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Task prioritization Full Job Description SUMMARY The Accounting Supervisor reports directly to the Corporate Controller, will manager one Accounts Payable employee, and be a critical contributor to the day-to-day and month-end financial operations of the company. This position will ensure accurate coding of transactions and timely reporting in accordance with GAAP. The ideal candidate thrives as an ERP subject matter expert (SME), has experience working for a manufacturer, is detail-oriented, self-driven, process improvement minded, and collaborative. Additionally, candidates must be able to prioritize tasks while also meeting important deadlines. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
General Ledger & Month-End Close Prepare and post monthly journal entries (e.g., payroll, misc. accruals, and adjustments, allocations) Execute processes to identify miscoded transactions and post corrections accordingly Complete and review bank and other balance sheet accounts while ensuring accuracy of reported figures Provide coding and transaction support for A/R, A/P, Payroll, Inventory, and Project Accounting Assist with Fixed Asset Register Maintenance Financial Reporting & Compliance Assist in compiling audit documentation for external auditors and regulatory compliance Provide monthly supporting documentation for Sales Tax filings Maintain adherence to internal controls and recommend improvements where needed Support the mapping and loading of the general ledger to the Financial Reporting System Support the preparation of internal financial statements and management reports Assist department managers with variance analysis research and explanations Accounts Payable and Treasury Create Wires, ACHs, Check Batches File 1099s Retrieving Bank Statements Record daily cash receipts and research shortages/overages Process Improvement & Collaboration Identify and recommend accounting process efficiencies and system enhancements Support budgeting and forecasting processes including but not limited to prepaids and CAPEX Provide ad hoc support for Finance and Operations teams
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance strongly preferred 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong understanding of GAAP Experience supervising direct reports strongly preferred Experience with cost accounting and inventory management preferred Experience with project-based revenue recognition (POC) is strongly preferred Experience supporting financial audits and internal controls SKILLS High Attention to detail and accuracy Advanced in Microsoft Excel Strong analytical and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines Proficiency in Dynamics 365 Business Central and Adaptive Insights(Workday product) is preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position will supervise the Accounts Payable role.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Able to work an agreed upon standard schedule and additional hours as job duties demand TRAVEL No travel anticipated
