THE ROLE
Are you a collaborative accounting professional who thrives in a team-oriented environment? The City of Pasco is seeking an Accounting Supervisor who not only brings strong technical expertise, but also values partnership, communication, and developing others. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness across key financial functions. You will supervise payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable staff, while working closely with the Finance Manager and other departments to support citywide financial operations. This position plays a critical role in fostering a collaborative, service-driven culture within the Finance Department—someone who leads by example, supports their team's growth, and builds strong working relationships across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
Supervising and developing accounting and payroll staff, including training and performance management Coordinating daily operations across payroll, AP/AR, treasury, and LIDs Ensuring compliance with GAAP, GASB, and applicable regulations Supporting audit processes, financial reporting, and budget preparation Partnering with internal departments to align financial practices with operational needs Leading process improvements, system enhancements, and internal control development To read the full job description, click here: Accounting Supervisor
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities) Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field Five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience Two (2) years of supervisory experience in accounting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in municipal or governmental accounting Strong working knowledge of
GAAP/GASB
standards Experience with financial systems and advanced Excel Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively and develop high-performing teams Experience supporting audits, budgeting, and internal controls
