Job Description

job summary: We are urgently seeking an experienced Interim Accounts Payable Manager for a 3-month consulting engagement to support a hybrid Finance & Accounting team in Jacksonville, FL. This contract is ideal for a process-driven AP leader or consultant who thrives in fast-paced environments, can quickly assess existing workflows, and has the leadership weight to guide an established operational team.

Operational Leadership:
Assume day-to-day management of the AP department, including team workload distribution, troubleshooting escalations, and reviewing weekly timecard/timesheet workflows.
Process & System Auditing:
Actively audit current accounting workflows, particularly around the high-volume employee out-of-pocket travel and expense reimbursement processes, to identify efficiencies and streamline desktop procedures.
Dual-Track Oversight:
Supervise both the standard vendor invoice processing side (matching, approvals, and check/electronic payment runs) and the internal employee reimbursement cycles.
Month-End & Financial Controls:
Assist the hybrid finance team with data integrity validation, month-end AP subledger-to-GL reconciliations, and calculating/submitting monthly expense accruals.
Payroll & Compliance Support:
Act as a critical checkpoint for reviewing bi-weekly payroll runs and ensuring overall adherence to internal accounting controls and audit trails.
qualifications:
Experience:
7+ years of progressive Accounts Payable and finance experience, with at least 2-3 years in a dedicated supervisory or managerial capacity.
Systems:
Strong proficiency navigating complex, enterprise-level ERP environments. Familiarity with Deltek or similar project-based accounting systems is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (data validation, lookups, pivot tables) and experience managing specialized T&E software (e.g., Concur).
Core Competencies:
Proven ability to step into an interim environment with zero learning curve; strong communication skills to handle internal leadership inquiries and external vendor relations.
