Clayton, MO Job Details 22 hours ago Qualifications Accounting systems Financial data reconciliation Data entry Accounting and finance experience Full Job Description We are seeking a hands-on and process-oriented Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our accounting team. This position is ideal for someone who has experience in a high-volume accounts payable environment and is excited about the opportunity to help build and scale the AP function of a growing company. Currently, this is a one-person department, and the successful candidate must be comfortable performing all aspects of the accounts payable process, including invoice coding, data entry, vendor communication, reconciliations, and payment processing. Over time, the AP function is expected to grow significantly in volume and complexity, requiring increased automation, process improvement, and team leadership. This individual will play a key role in the company's future ERP selection and implementation process and will help design scalable AP workflows and controls that support long-term growth. The role will also work closely with the Procurement Department to help establish efficient procure-to-pay processes as both functions expand. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of three (3) years of accounts payable experience, preferably in a high-volume processing environment. Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Experience helping improve AP processes, implement automation, or participate in ERP implementations strongly preferred. Strong understanding of accounts payable operations, accounting principles, and internal controls. Experience with ERP systems required; NetSuite and Ramp experience preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office skills. Ability to operate effectively both strategically and tactically — capable of building processes while also executing day-to-day transactional work. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work cross-functionally with accounting, procurement, and operations teams in a fast-growing environment. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. Perform all hands-on AP activities including invoice coding, data entry, payment processing, vendor maintenance, reconciliations, and issue resolution. Ensure accurate coding of transactions to the appropriate general ledger accounts. Prepare monthly accrual journal entries and support month-end and year-end close activities. Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure payments are made in accordance with company policies and payment terms. Collaborate closely with the Procurement Department to improve procure-to-pay workflows, communication, and controls. Help evaluate, select, and implement future ERP and AP automation solutions, with a focus on scalability and efficiency. Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to support future transaction growth. Develop and maintain AP procedures, documentation, and internal controls. Review AP transactions to ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls. Maintain accurate records of invoices, payments, vendor communications, and supporting documentation. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including annual 1099 reporting. Manage the third-party payment service (Ramp) and its integration with NetSuite. As the company grows, assist with hiring, training, and managing additional AP staff. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time. Must be able to perform repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computers and related office equipment. Occasional travel to satellite locations (day trips) may be required. Ability to work overtime when necessary.
