Williams & Connolly LLP views its accounting professionals as essential to the firm's financial integrity and its ability to deliver exceptional client service. Within this team, accounts payable plays a vital role by ensuring the firm meets its financial obligations accurately and on time while preserving the critical vendor relationships that attorneys depend on to support their cases. Under the direction of the Deputy Chief of Finance and Accounting, the position is responsible for managing the Accounts Payable Supervisor and three Accounts Payable team members, as well as coordinating or assisting with all aspects of the accounts payable function including, but not limited to: Mentoring, supervising, training and developing the accounts payable team to keep abreast of best practices; Strategic planning and development for the overall accounts payable function; Reviewing and approving invoices and payments; Partnering with leadership to ensure an environment with strong financial controls around our financial disbursements; Setting and monitoring standard communications to improve internal customer service; Ensuring urgent payment needs are processed timely; Overseeing daily payment runs; Firm credit card and travel card program administration; Championing technological advancements within the accounts payable space, including the accounts payable module in Aderant (ERP), accounts payable OCR, and integrating AI benefits where possible; Internal and external stakeholder management; 1099 reporting; and Sales and use tax, garnishment, and other compliance with District of Columbia laws and regulations The above description of essential job functions is not an exclusive or exhaustive list of all job duties that a staff member in this position may be asked to perform. Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively with peers, management, and leadership; BA/BS 8+ years of experience working in a high-volume Accounts Payable function or comparable financial function; Prior management experience; Experience with Aderant accounting system a plus; Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; A relentlessness for timeliness; Attention to detail; and Proficient in the use of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat; as well as the aptitude for learning new software Work is performed in a professional office environment and requires the following: Prolonged periods using a sit-to-stand desk and working on a computer. Repetitive movements, including typing on a keyboard and using a mouse. Ability to lift and carry up to 15lbs. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. After successfully completing the introductory period, the candidate will be eligible to work the department's approved hybrid schedule. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $125,000 - $150,000. This is an exempt position. The hours are 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Additional hours may be required. The final offer amount is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, education, and other relevant skills and qualifications.
