Duties Lead the accounts payable team to process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments efficiently using advanced accounting software such as Workday, SAP, or Oracle. Ensure all payments adhere to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal controls, including SOX compliance. Manage vendor relationships by verifying invoice accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining strong communication channels. Oversee account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger postings related to accounts payable activities. Implement process improvements utilizing tools like Excel data analysis, VLOOKUP functions, and automation to streamline workflows. Conduct thorough audits of accounts payable transactions to prevent errors and fraud; prepare detailed reports for management review. Collaborate with human resources and finance teams on benefits administration, payroll management, and compliance with federal/state regulations such as tax requirements. Requirements Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on accounts payable management; experience in public accounting is a plus. Strong knowledge of accounting systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Sage, PeopleSoft or Ceridian. Proficiency in Excel formulas including VLOOKUP, data analysis techniques, and 10-key typing skills for efficient data entry. Deep understanding of GAAP standards, double-entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation processes, and journal entry preparation. Familiarity with financial concepts like debits & credits, general ledger accounting, and corporate or governmental accounting practices. Experience working with financial software such as QuickBooks or Quicken is advantageous. Excellent analysis skills coupled with strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and experience implementing internal controls within financial processes. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments including human resources for benefits administration and payroll management.
