Job Summary The Sr. Auditor leads the planning, performance, reporting, and follow-up of internal audits. This position includes identifying possible fraud and various other risks and related controls. Travel will be necessary between campuses and the possibility of attending local and out-of-town meetings. Occasionally required to work some evenings and weekends for workshops or presentations. Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks Documents observations and recommendations to mitigate risks and improve controls. Develop audit objectives, programs, and appropriate testing methodologies. Research various regulations to obtain background information related to audit or consulting projects. Conduct fieldwork including interviews, testing, queries, data analytics and root cause analysis. Using analytical skills, identify preliminary findings or issues to arrive at a supportable conclusion based on all the data collected. Prepare and review documents for clear and concise presentation of material, revise when appropriate. Prepare draft audits, consulting emails, memos and reports. Conduct follow up testing to determine status of audit recommendations. Prepare Institutional Audit Committee documents and draft the minutes of the meetings. Assist with investigations when requested. Serve as a resource to campus departments or external auditors, when requested. Perform departmental obligations, including purchasing, travel arrangements, time and leave documents, and account reconciliations. Other duties as assigned. Required Education/Experience Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or other related certification. Preferred Education/Experience Master's degree in related field. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Accounting System and Auditing Software. College coursework or other training in Internal Auditing. Experience in Texas Higher Education Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Extensive knowledge of the standards for IIA and GAGAS. Advanced in MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.) and calculators. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with university personnel at all levels. Respond flexibly and positively in all circumstances, working calmly under pressure. Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to an audience in an understandable manner. Adept at managing multiple responsibilities effectively. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently. Establish, nurture, and maintain productive relationships with internal and external audiences. Extensive knowledge of and proficiency in various spreadsheet, database and financial analysis software that requires a high level of computer literacy and aptitude. Proficiency in managing and reviewing documentation. Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated record of completing assignments. Meticulous approach to organization that ensures no important details are overlooked. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively and with a high degree of accuracy. Interact professionally with faculty and university leadership. Demonstrated flexibility and initiative in a dynamic work environment. Ethical.
