What You'll Do:
Leads the development of audit programs and procedures and supervises the auditing of District funds and operations, examining records and reports to determine compliance with established laws, regulations, and District guidelines Plans and performs compliance audits of School Activity Funds, operational audits, and reviews of District operations Conduct special investigations Prepares written reports summarizing audit findings and recommends corrective action for internal control weaknesses and non-compliance with District policies and procedures; communicates findings and recommendations to school principals Reviews monthly School Activity Fund financial reports to verify that they are prepared according to policies and procedures Prepares and updates monthly School Activity Fund financial report information and summarizes activity to be included in the District's annual financial report Provides School Activity Fund training and support to District personnel Assists the District's external auditors
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's Degree
  • Accounting or related field
  • Required Three (3+) plus years of experience in accounting or auditing
  • Required Valid Colorado Driver's License, appropriate insurance coverage, and acceptable driving record for the past three years if the position requires travel
  • Required CPA Certification or other equivalent certificate
  • Required Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.
g., Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and statistical software Effective time management and organizational skills Effective verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to communicate persuasively and diplomatically Ability to analyze, identify, and problem-solve in highly complex situations Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines The ability to take responsibility for one's own performance Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and coordinate and work effectively with diverse staff Ability to train and guide lower level auditors through District audits and motivate employees to achieve results Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and auditing practices (GAAP) Knowledge of governmental regulations and District internal auditing policies Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
