Auditor Ofc of the Inspector General Washington, DC Job Details Full-time $54,183 - $69,770 a year 17 hours ago Qualifications Internal controls Mid-level Finance Public Administration GAAS Business Administration Accounting standards Business Accounting Full Job Description This position is located at the District of Columbia's, Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Audit Unit. The OIG is responsible for conducting independent financial and performance audits, inspections, evaluations, and investigations of District of Columbia government programs and operations. Duties and Responsibilities Develop experience in the practical application of auditing concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. Develop familiarity with the systems, practices, regulations, and operations of the District of Columbia programs and operations. Works independently, but within the framework established by the supervisor and conformance with established practices and prescribed procedures. Refers problems not covered by the supervisor's instructions or guides to the supervisor for help or a decision. Uses judgment in locating and selecting the proper procedural and technical instructions and in performing those aspects of the work not specifically prescribed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Degree:
Accounting, auditing, or a degree, including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. Knowledge of government auditing standards, generally accepted accounting and auditing principles, techniques, methodology and procedures, including but not limited to, audits and internal control review, analysis and development, the General Accounting Office Government Auditing Standards and standards of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of internal Auditors. Familiarity with the programs and operations of the District government and have knowledge of the laws, policies, regulations, and instructions governing, affecting or pertaining to OIG activities, and programs. Work Environment The work is performed in an office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
