Jacksonville, FL Job Details Full-time 14 hours ago Benefits Paid jury duty Paid holidays Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Tuition reimbursement Parental leave Employee assistance program Vision insurance 401(k) matching Bereavement leave Life insurance Qualifications Bachelor's degree Full Job Description TOTE Services, LLC The Safety Management System (SMS) Auditor is responsible for ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of the TOTE Services-managed fleet by conducting internal audits of both vessels and offices and providing administrative support and oversight of the company's safety management system. Responsible for maintaining SMS documentation and certification, evaluating SMS effectiveness, and evaluating analytics related to the health of the management system. SMS Auditors will frequently interface with upper levels of management, shoreside and shipboard, and must be able to make sound business decisions, both administrative and technical. This team member will report to the SMS Manager and work with other safety team members on special projects, as well as the responsibilities listed below.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Promote the TOTE Services safety culture and adhere to all safety guidelines. Make safety a priority in everything we do and seek opportunities for continuous improvement. Conduct annual Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental internal audits onboard TOTE-managed vessels. Conducts annual security audits onboard TOTE managed vessels. This includes travel to various locations. Travel requirement is approximately 25%. Document audit findings and assist with updates and functionality to the Safety Management System. Assists in the implementation and administration of the company's Safety Management System. Recommends, manages, and revises the Safety Management System documentation pertaining to shipboard and shoreside operations, as appropriate. Reviews vessel compliance with company standards and policies. Assist in preparing policy changes/additions for management review. Obtain, assess, and analyze data from company systems such as ABS NSE, Microsoft SharePoint, and Origami to determine overall management system health and company compliance. Conduct Vessel General Permit (VGP) Annual submissions through fleetwide data capture. Assist in facilitating the master's annual review of the SMS and implementation of follow-up action items. Assist with Safety intranet content, keeping information current and relevant to the organization. Assist with archiving documentation, as required by the SMS and regulatory requirements. Support inquiries for historical SMS documents. Assists in the tracking and development of the Company's Safety and Environmental Policies. Coordinates the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. Interface with customers and other external stakeholders on matters concerning HSQE injuries, incidents, and audits. Assists with the facilitation of shoreside external (ABS) and conduct internal audits. Supports operational safety as needed, to include, but not limited to, the Emergency Response Team, Heavy Weather Advisory Team, and the Continuous Improvement Working Group.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to multitask. Ensure taskers and project timelines are established. Ability to communicate and perform task(s) in a team concept is critical. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, crewmembers, customers, and the general public. Knowledge of computer operation, both shoreside and shipboard. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of Products, to include but not limited to, SharePoint, Outlook, PowerPoint, Power Automate, Microsoft Forms, Teams, etc.
Education:
Bachelor's degree with at least three years of related experience as a licensed merchant mariner and/or shipboard environmental management experience. ABS/Coast Guard regulatory experience highly desirable. A degree from a maritime academy is preferred. Environmental management and Vessel General Permit (VGP) experience is highly desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
ISM and ISO Auditor certification preferred but can be obtained during employment. Maritime Academy and/or Engine or Deck qualifications experience preferred Must be able to possess

security clearance. Physical Requirements of the
Position:
Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds, safely transit gangways up to 50 feet in length, climb vessel ladders, and move throughout vessels up to 900 feet in length. Visual Requirements of the
Position:
Visual requirements are equal to those for clerical administrative work and deal largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminals, extensive reading, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, risk of electrical shock and toxic vapors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, noise level exposure can increase during visits to the vessels.
