Description:
American Community Bank & Trust (ACBT), the largest locally owned bank in McHenry County, is seeking a Loan Auditor! In this role you will independently audit loan operations across consumer and commercial portfolios to ensure regulatory compliance, policy adherence, documentation accuracy, and process integrity - including file reviews, daily checkbacks, reconciliations, and HMDA/CRA and fair-lending monitoring. An ideal candidate is detail-oriented, maintains professional independence, and has experience in loan documentation, loan operations, audit, or compliance within a financial institution. What you'll do: Maintain a risk-based loan audit/QC plan and perform pre-funding, post-closing, and booked-loan file reviews for documentation, approvals, collateral/perfection, and policy compliance. Perform daily checkbacks from exception reports, route errors for correction, re-verify completion, and maintain review logs. Conduct specialty reviews (construction draw controls, letter of credit reviews, cash-secured loan testing, swap loan balancing). Reconcile LAS deferred fees/costs, in-process GL accounts, and loan non-post items; produce monthly documented audit summaries. Review collateral reports, resolve collateral exceptions, and validate completion. Review weekly loan rate changes for authorization and system accuracy; prepare documentation for imaging/retention/indexing. Identify
HMDA/CRA
reportable loans; maintain tracking logs and input data; prepare monthly CRA summaries and fair-lending monitoring and analysis. Manage adverse action notices for non-originated consumer and commercial applications and validate borrower disclosures. Document findings, issue concise reports with corrective actions, track remediation, perform follow-up testing, and escalate high-risk/recurring issues. Support regulatory exams, internal/external audits, procedure updates, control enhancements, and training while maintaining independence.
Requirements:
Who you are: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (banking preferred). Relevant compliance and/or industry training preferred. Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial and consumer loan documentation/collateral review, loan operations, compliance, audit, or QC at a financial institution. Familiar with core lending/servicing systems and loan origination platforms. Strong attention to detail, clear written and verbal reporting, sound ethical judgment, and ability to collaborate with stakeholders while maintaining independence. Able to lift up to 20 lbs, work primarily on-site during business hours with occasional travel and occasional after-hours work to meet deadlines.

Timely, accurate completion of audits, checkbacks, and remediation follow-ups. Quality and completeness of workpapers and reports. Compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies. Professional communications, collaboration, attendance, and conduct.
