Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
This position is located at our Headquarters location in Bismarck, ND and is not a remote position. This position is open to varying levels depending on experience. This position involves activities associated with conducting comprehensive audits in operational, contractual, financial, and technical areas of Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) to determine compliance with applicable contracts, laws, and regulations; verification that the receipt, control, and expenditure of funds are accurate; and performance efficiencies and effectiveness are attained. The incumbent assists with other audits, as directed by higher-level auditors, and works under close supervision in a training capacity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Performs routine audits or a specific area of more complex audits. Assists in determining issues and making recommendations. Assists in consultation with management on matters identified in audits and analysis. Assists in performing evaluations of new and existing policies, procedures, and practices and proposes changes. Assists in making recommendations for modifying policies and procedures based on analysis. Performs data analytics for audits. Assists in the preparation of preliminary audit reports. Utilizes auditing software for audit performance. Observes Pre and Post audit conferences. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, technology or other related field with coursework in accounting or auditing; and 2 years of accounting, auditing, finance, technology or related analytical experience; or Associate's degree in a related field and 4 years of accounting, auditing, finance, technology or related analytical experience. Occasional travel. A valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination.
KEY SKILLS
Knowledge of business systems and the ability to demonstrate analytical skills. Develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively independently or in a team environment to accomplish project goals and promote collaboration of ideas. Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook.
