Hybrid PURPOSE:
The primary purpose of this position is to fulfill our vision of inspiring financial wellness. The position must deliver high quality service to both internal and external members by supporting and promoting our values to Care, Listen, Learn, Solve, and Act. The Associate Auditor supports audits of the Credit Union by assisting with audit planning, fieldwork, documentation and reporting. This position helps assess risks, internal control systems, compliance, and operational efficiency to identify potential recommendations and enhance the Credit Union's operating and control systems. This role assists with audits of the activities for various departments for compliance with plans, policies, and procedures prescribed by management. Under supervision, this role prepares documentation, performs assigned testing, and helps with audit-related communication coordination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assist with assigned audits in a timely fashion as scheduled in the audit plan and in accordance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing Perform audit testing procedures including walkthroughs, data analysis and control testing Support developing and maintaining audit documentation Assist with drafting audit findings and reports for review Effectively communicate audit notifications and assist in coordinating additional audit requests Collaborate with senior management, department managers and employees regarding Credit Union risks and controls Assist with fraud alerts and investigations assigned Maintain strong knowledge of industry standards, applicable laws and regulations, and Global Internal Audit Standards Perform other duties as commensurate to this position
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Education & Experience:
0-2 years of experience in Internal Audit, accounting, finance, compliance, or related field
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong organizational skills. Ability to concentrate, exercise judgement & be a creative thinker, with a focus on risk & controls. Has the ability to work on multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Is able to meet deadlines as required by law, regulators, policy and management direction. Proficient in the use of Windows software, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access and Outlook Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Interactions may involve sensitive or personal information. Ability to be resourceful, perceptive and persuasive when solving problems. Displays, diplomacy, patience and tact when dealing with members and staff Proficient in using applicable Credit Union systems within 90 days in the position Understanding of the fundamentals of economics, commercial law, finance and information technology General knowledge of the financial industry. Knowledge of critical interdependencies across business functions and impacts of business decisions Work involves some personal contact with others that is often of a sensitive nature. Have the ability or become proficient within 6 months in: Applying internal auditing standards, procedures and techniques required to perform audits Basic accounting principles and techniques to work with financial records and reports Thorough understanding of the Credit Union's risks and controls
ADA REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Working Conditions Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise. Mental and Emotional Requirements Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
