Job Description

Audit Director Distinct Recruitment - 4.5 Tampa, FL Job Details Full-time $180,000 - $220,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Profit sharing Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Work from home Parental leave 401(k) matching Flexible schedule Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Public accounting External audits Full Job Description Not every Audit Director role is about building a department from scratch. Sometimes the opportunity is stepping into a well established practice, inheriting a strong client base and helping shape the next chapter of a firm that has already earned its reputation. This CPA firm has been serving clients for more than 50 years. Large enough to offer resources, technology and career opportunities. Small enough that your voice is heard and your contribution matters. The audit practice is established, respected and busy throughout the year. Now they're looking for an experienced Audit Director to help lead it. The Role This is a leadership position within a growing audit practice. The firm already has a long standing Audit Senior Manager in place who is looking to gradually reduce their workload over time. As a result, the partners are looking to add an experienced Audit Director who can help provide leadership, manage client relationships and continue developing the audit practice. You'll work across a variety of audit engagements including: Commercial Businesses Employee Benefit Plans Industry Specific Audits Other Assurance Engagements One of the biggest advantages of the role is the consistency of the workload. Rather than experiencing significant peaks and valleys throughout the year, the firm maintains a steady flow of audit work across multiple engagement types, creating a more balanced environment than many traditional audit practices. Why People Join Established firm with more than 50 years of history Strong and established audit client base Hybrid working after initial onboarding Supportive and approachable leadership team Modern technology and systems Direct access to firm leadership Long term career stability What Stands Out The firm sits in a sweet spot that many candidates are looking for. It isn't a small local practice where resources are stretched. It isn't a large national firm where you become a number. The team consists of approximately 20 employees, creating an environment where people know each other, work closely together and have direct access to decision makers. The Managing Partner remains actively involved in the business and takes a hands on approach with both clients and staff. The culture is built around trust, flexibility and accountability rather than micromanagement. Once established in the role, employees have significant flexibility around where they work and how they manage their schedules. Technology The firm invests heavily in technology and modern tools, including: Thomson Reuters Practice Management Engagement Manager AI Driven Research and Productivity Tools Who They're Looking For CPA preferred 10+ years of public accounting audit experience Experience managing audit engagements from planning through completion Experience leading client relationships Experience supervising and developing staff Strong technical audit knowledge Someone who enjoys working closely with clients and mentoring team members A leader who wants to be part of a collaborative and long term focused firm The Honest Bit This probably isn't the right fit if you're looking for a huge national platform with multiple layers of management and internal politics. But if you'd like to join a well respected firm with an established audit practice, strong leadership, modern technology and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, it's worth a conversation.
