Job Description

Audit Supervisor Fairfax, VA $100,000 - $130,000 Audit is audit. What changes everything is the environment around it. The clients. The people. The culture you walk into every Monday morning. Because carrying out audit work is relatively similar wherever you go. What tends to determine whether people stay or leave is how the firm actually makes them feel while they're doing it. This team understands that better than most. Why this role exists The firm continues to grow steadily across the DC Metro area and they're looking for experienced Audit professionals who can step into a leadership focused role. Not just someone who can technically complete engagements.
Someone who can:
Lead teams confidently Build client trust Review work properly Help develop staff around them Become part of the next generation of leadership within the firm This is the point where your career starts becoming less about execution and more about influence. The kind of firm this is Large enough to offer strong client exposure and career progression. Small enough that people still know your name. They've grown into one of the top firms in the Metro DC area, working across industries including: Government Contracting Construction Real Estate Manufacturing Hospitality Non Profit Which means your experience broadens quickly rather than becoming stuck in one niche forever. What makes this place stand out A lot of firms say promotions are merit based. Then quietly reward whoever's been there longest. This place genuinely recognises contribution. If you're good at what you do, people notice. And because leadership remains accessible, progression feels much more visible than in heavily layered firms. You're not waiting years for somebody senior to retire before opportunities open up. The culture (this is where people tend to lean in) This is not one of those firms trying to manufacture culture through forced fun. The team genuinely gets on. Friendly office competitions Team dinners and evenings out Leadership that's approachable An environment where people support each other rather than compete internally And then there's the detail nobody forgets. Every year, the firm gives every team member two tickets for a Caribbean cruise weekend. Not a pizza party. Not a company branded backpack. An actual cruise. Which tells you quite a lot about how seriously they take rewarding people properly. What your week actually looks like Hybrid and flexible. Maximum of around three days in office or with clients. Which means you still get collaboration and team connection without losing flexibility entirely. The balance feels intentional rather than reactive. What you'd actually be doing Leading audit engagements across a range of industries Reviewing work and supporting staff development Building relationships with clients Managing timelines and engagement flow Becoming increasingly involved in higher level conversations with leadership and clients alike This is a role where visibility grows quickly. Who this suits You'll likely enjoy this if: You want progression based on ability, not politics You enjoy mentoring and leading people You like variety in your client work You want a strong culture without sacrificing professionalism You're looking for a long term move rather than another stop on the resume What they're looking for Public accounting audit experience CPA or someone progressing toward it Experience leading or reviewing engagements Someone collaborative, reliable, and commercially aware Whether you're stepping in at Senior Audit Associate or Audit Manager level, the key thing is mindset. They want people who want to build something long term. Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? That's fine. Apply the old-fashioned way, or simply reach out to me on LinkedIn or through the Distinct Recruitment website. I'll happily talk you through the role, the firm, and where it could take you before you make any commitments. I'm Abigail Stephen, Recruiter at Distinct. I don't just look at job specs; I look at people, and where they'll thrive. It's not about filling gaps. It's about finding a fit that lasts. Outside of work, balance for me is Pilates to reset, travel to explore, and skiing to recharge. Because the truth is, you don't slog through hours for the love of a spreadsheet. You do it for the freedom it buys you. Same principle here.
