3+ Years of Public Accounting Audit Experience•Nonprofit Audit SeniorPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Nonprofit Audit Senior to lead and execute financial statement audits and compliance engagements for nonprofit organizations. The role focuses on planning and delivering high-quality audit services tailored to NFP clients, ensuring compliance with GAAP, Uniform Guidance and grant requirements, while mentoring staff and building strong client relationships. This position combines technical audit expertise with public accounting experience and a commitment to the nonprofit sector.Key ResponsibilitiesLead planning, fieldwork and completion of financial statement audits, single audits (Uniform Guidance), and other compliance engagements for nonprofit clients.
Develop risk-based audit programs, document workpapers, and ensure audit documentation meets firm and professional standards.
Supervise, train and review the work of audit associates and seniors; provide coaching to support staff development.
Interpret and apply nonprofit accounting standards (FASB NFP guidance), grant and donor restrictions, and fund accounting principles.
Communicate audit findings, recommendations and technical issues clearly to clients and engagement teams; prepare management letters and financial statement footnotes.
Coordinate with engagement partners and other service lines to resolve technical issues and deliver integrated client services.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of nonprofit sector regulations, grant compliance requirements, and auditing standards; implement changes in audit methodology as needed.
Support business development by identifying service opportunities, contributing to proposals, and participating in client meetings and industry events.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting or related field; Masters degree or additional coursework preferred.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required or CPA candidate with plans to obtain licensure shortly.3+ to 6+ years of public accounting audit experience with a strong focus on nonprofit (NFP) clients and fund accounting.
Demonstrated experience performing single audits (Uniform Guidance), grant/contract compliance, and nonprofit financial reporting.
Solid technical knowledge of GAAP for nonprofits (ASC 958), donor restrictions, and related disclosure requirements.
Excellent supervisory and team leadership skills; experience coaching and reviewing staff workpapers and deliverables.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present complex issues to non-financial stakeholders.
Proficiency with audit software and MS Excel; familiarity with nonprofit accounting systems and cloud-based tools is a plus.
Detail-oriented, organized, able to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a client-service environment.
