Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive audits of manufacturing exemption claims to ensure adherence to applicable tax laws and regulations. Analyze complex financial data, including general ledger entries and transactional records, to validate exemption eligibility. Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as finance, legal, and compliance to interpret regulatory requirements and implement best practices. Prepare detailed audit reports, documenting findings, discrepancies, and recommended corrective actions with clarity and precision. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sales tax laws, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations), and governmental accounting standards. Assist in internal audits related to tax processes, risk management strategies, and regulatory reporting procedures. Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process efficiencies within sales tax compliance workflows. Qualifications Proven experience in sales tax auditing within manufacturing or related industries; familiarity with manufacturing exemption processes is highly preferred. Strong understanding of financial concepts such as
GAAP, GAAS
(Generally Accepted Auditing Standards), and regulatory reporting requirements. Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting, public accounting practices, and corporate accounting standards. Proficiency with accounting software, financial analysis tools, and general ledger systems; experience with tax software is a plus. Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately and efficiently. Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements, internal controls frameworks like COSO, and risk management principles. Strong communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating across departments.
